Monthly Roundup: February Favorites
Oh February. The entire month I hoped for snow and didn’t get a SINGLE inch. What is life? Since when is it winter and it ends up being 50 degrees every day? So confused.
Thankfully the month was still filled with favorite things like good books and comfortable pants (just keep reading). It was also a busy month! Luke’s work schedule picked up so he was traveling a lot, which meant I spent most of February holding down the fort. As I write this, for example, Luke’s in Arizona for the week. I can’t wait until he gets back!
Okay, now onto February favorites, the real reason you’re here!
Old Navy Pixie Pants
GUYS. How did I not know about these before recently?! Seriously the most comfortable professional pants I’ve ever worn. They come in tons of colors, too, and have petite sizes! Angels are singing right now, believe me. My new job is awesome, but one of the things I’ve had to adjust to is dressing business casual every day (aka, no jeans). Enter: Old Navy’s Pixie Pants, thanks to the genius suggestion of my mom. They go with everything and yes, I bought several pairs. Worth. It.
Galentine’s Day
Galentine’s Day, aka February 13, is a special time around here. My friend Katie is the real life Leslie Knope from Parks + Rec. She’s truly the best and throws epic, organized, and thought-out events. When she invited me and some of our closest friends to a Galentine’s Day party, I couldn’t miss it. It was so much fun! I made chocolate covered strawberries drizzled with white chocolate and we had waffles and ice cream. So perfect, so Galentine’s Day.
National Aquarium
Like I mentioned at the beginning, Luke’s been pretty busy this month. When he said he took the weekend off for Valentine’s Day, I was ecstatic. We’ve been wanting to have a little adventure day and took the opportunity to go to Baltimore and visit the National Aquarium. It doubled as our Valentine’s Day gift to each other so it was a win-win. We’ve been to this aquarium before but it’s been a few years and watching the beautiful fish and creatures was both mesmerizing and extremely relaxing.
Hard Rock Cafe
Next to the National Aquarium in Baltimore is Hard Rock Cafe. We ended our Baltimore adventure by eating at Hard Rock, another favorite of ours. It’s always so fun checking out the memorabilia.
My Entertaining Day Off
I had off work for President’s Day and it was…interesting. There is a mouse in our house (STILL have not caught it!) and I share the hilarious details of the day over on Hope For the Hot Mess. You can check it out here.
To Hell With the Hustle by Jefferson Bethke
I couldn’t NOT put a book in my February favorites! I’ll be sharing all the books I read in February soon, but for now I wanted to share one of my favorites from the month, To Hell With the Hustle by Jefferson Bethke. I heard great things about this book so I decided to check it out. It exceeded my expectations. The author is a Christian and talks about “hustle culture” (aka, the “no sleep, work all the time” trend). Spoiler: he’s not a fan of Hustle Culture, and shares ways to incorporate balance in your life, especially as a Christian. So good, highly recommend.
