The First Week of 2021
We are 8 days into 2021 and have already experienced a heartbreaking and terrifying event.
I debated on whether or not to write, let alone publish, this. But I am doing so intentionally. The “irony” that “Intentional” is one of my 2021 Words of the Year is not lost on me. Neither is the fact that “Joy” is another word I chose for this year.
It is not ironic at all.
Every day is a reminder that this world is not our home. This world needs Jesus, desperately.
I cling to the promise of Hebrews 13:8: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” He is not shaken by events. He is not shaken by the brokenness or uncertainty or fear of this world. He is not rattled by the things that rattle us. He is the God of all things, who knows all things, who controls all things, who is sovereign in all things, and who has peace over all things. And “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God’” (Psalm 46:10).
So my prayer for you is that you will be still in Him. Stillness, that wonderful word I talked about last month, is still just as important now. Yesterday, today, tomorrow, and the days to come remind me of the command for stillness and the promise He is still God. My peace, my comfort, my faith, my hope, and my strength is only, has only, and will only ever be found in Christ alone.
