20 Ways to Get Organized for the Holidays

Blogmas Day 4

This week of Blogmas is prep week, and what’s a prep week without a “Get Your Life Together” to-do list from the queen of lists herself? I know we all have never ending lists of things we want to do this holiday season, so maybe the last thing you need is a reminder of all that’s still left to do!

No need to panic. You’ve got this.

The holidays can be overwhelming and frankly, a bit stressful. So before any busy season, I like to take a moment to “get my life together,” so to speak. There are, of course, many ways to “get your life together" for the holidays, and it might look completely different for you, and that’s okay! However, here are some things I do to mentally and physically prepare for the busy season ahead in case you find these helpful (or are just curious!).

  1. Block off “theme days” for the month ahead (baking day, wrapping day, shopping day).

  2. Update your monthly budget.

  3. Prep your Christmas cards (if you’re sending them this year!)

  4. Take stock of wrapping supplies and restock as needed.

  5. Create a holiday gift tracker/excel doc.

  6. Clean out your fridge and pantry shelves.

  7. Make a grocery list of everything you need while doing #6.

  8. Clean your sheets.

  9. Catch up on laundry.

  10. Set up your “out of office” email so it’s ready to go when you need it.

  11. Clean your makeup brushes (because honestly, when was the last time you did that?)

  12. Clean out your purse.

  13. Wash any and all blankets.

  14. Take photos of your decor to reference next year.

  15. Declutter your wardrobe to take out anything you won’t wear this season.

  16. Write down all the fun activities you want to do so you don’t forget.

  17. Go through the photos on your phone to remove duplicates, screenshots, blurry outtakes, etc.

  18. Freshen up your guest room if you’re planning to have guests over (I included some tips in A Sneak Peek At Our Guest Room.)

  19. Unsubscribe from any email lists that are overwhelming you with unnecessary information, holiday deals, etc.

  20. Use a Chrome extension like Honey to find deals, coupons, promo codes, etc. while online shopping.
