7 Things Saving My Life Right Now
It’s mid-July, a.k.a., the hottest days of summer.
It’s high humidity, in the 90s every day, and your girl is just trying to stay sweat-free and chill.
I love summer for many, many reasons, but the humidity and feeling like I’m in a sauna all-day-every-day are not two of them.
When I was thinking about what to write this week, I knew I wanted to share what’s saving my life right now.
Dramatic? Maybe. Necessary? Absolutely. There are 7 things keeping me sane and cool lately, so they deserve extra special shout-outs separate from my monthly favorites.
{ONE} Target Maxi Dresses
These maxi dresses from Target are technically maternity, but I promise you, I will be wearing them when I’m not pregnant, too. I love them. I didn’t think I would, but I tried the black one on and fell in love. It was the perfect length for my petite height and can be dressed up or down. It’s flowy and the material isn’t itchy (win-win). I plan on wearing them into the fall, too, with a jean jacket and accessories. LOVE.
{TWO} Watermelon
I’m obsessed with watermelon lately. It’s so good and a perfect alternative for when you have a sweet tooth. Also, I challenge you to name something better than eating watermelon in the summertime. You can’t, I promise.
{THREE} Snack bowls from Amazon
Yes, these snack bowls from Amazon are saving my life lately. Plus, they’re only $13 for 9. They’re dishwasher safe and the perfect size for when you want a snack but don’t want a giant bowl. I use these for a little ice cream at night and it’s a great way to keep your portions realistic!
{FOUR} Libby
I’ve mentioned the Libby app plenty of times, but it’s really been a go-to for me lately. Sometimes I have a hard time reading at night, so being able to listen to audiobooks during the day allows me to stay on track with my reading goals.
{FIVE} Summer Lo-Fi Spotify Playlist
Music can make or break your vibe, and when I’m writing or doing work that requires a lot of focus, I need good music to listen to. This Summer Lo-Fi playlist on Spotify has been my go-to because the songs don’t have lyrics and remind me of the songs you’d hear at a coffee shop or hotel lobby.
{SIX} Dairy-free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream
That ice cream I mentioned above for my snack bowls? Yeah, it’s dairy-free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and it’s amazing. It doesn’t mess up my stomach and tastes just like the real dairy-filled thing (AKA, I can have more of it without feeling guilty). Definitely worth a try if you’re an ice cream lover like me.
{SEVEN} Avoiding TikTok and limiting screen time
I found myself on TikTok and other social platforms way too often, so I decided to challenge myself to no-TikTok July. And guess what? It’s working. I don’t miss it and I didn’t realize how often I habitually opened the app just because I was used to doing it. Limiting screen time is always a great idea, but it’s been refreshing to avoid scrolling (especially at night) and not waste so much time on social media.
