Monthly Roundup: April Books and Favorites
April: What a month.
I’m not going to lie, I’ve been struggling through a writer’s block lately where I just don’t have inspiration to write outside of work. My 9-5 job is very content-focused, which I love, but it sometimes means that by the end of the workday, I don’t want to stare at a screen. I like shutting down my laptop and my phone to unplug.
So yes, if you noticed I’ve been “skipping” weeks of blog content, you’re right. I’m trying to give myself grace in this season of life. Working a full-time job while chasing a toddler and being a fully-present wife, mom, friend, coworker, daughter, etc… is tough sometimes. Completely worth it, but definitely a balancing act.
Okay, enough of the TED Talk, let’s get into my April favorites and books.
{ONE} Spring break
I have to laugh. I was SO EXCITED for spring break and couldn’t wait to do all the outside things with Vienna. Well, the first week of April truly lived up to the “April showers” hype: It rained every single day. Cold, grey days of pouring rain.
We made the best of it, though. We went to the aquarium, which was SO fun. Vienna loved it. We did lots of finger painting, reading, and spending time on our covered front porch (thank you, Jesus, for this porch!!). It was a full mommy-and-Vienna week and even though the weather wasn’t great, we made the most of it and had a lot of fun quality time.
{TWO} Hangouts with friends
I enjoyed a few really nice hangouts with friends in April, and it was good for the soul.
{THREE} Spring weather
The sun and warm weather have been amazing lately. We are officially in shorts & T-shirt weather which makes hanging outside so much easier without all the winter gear. (I say this with the caveat that this past weekend was super cold and I had to unpack Vienna’s winter jacket!) We’ve been taking family walks in the evenings and love that it’s lighter later. Summer’s around the corner and we’re so excited.
{FOUR} Books I Read in April
I’m looping in my April reads to this post. I read quite a few great books in April, bringing my 2024 reading goal to 3 books ahead of schedule!
