Monthly Roundup: May Favorites

May was a fun and crazy one! I usually dread May for a variety of reasons. Although it was a whirlwind to say the least, looking back, there were a few highlights and favorites worth remembering. We’ve officially kicked off summer with Summer Fridays and plenty of time outside, so looking forward to seeing what June will bring. Until then, enjoy a little roundup of some May favorites.

{ONE} The Library

We “rediscovered” our local library this month. Vienna went for the first time and I fell in love with the library once more for all the free resources they have for kids! We attended storytime and checked out a bunch of books. We also officially began the “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” challenge. In almost 3 weeks, we’ve read over 350 books. I knew I read to this girl a lot, but seeing that number is quite crazy! This is your friendly reminder to utilize your library resources because it’s amazing.

{TWO} Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day happened this month, which is such an interesting holiday now that I am a mom. I grew up celebrating my mom (obviously) but as a mom myself, I’ve grown to appreciate this holiday a bit more. We had a lovely Mother’s Day brunch that weekend, went out for lunch after church on Sunday, and Vienna (cough Luke cough) surprised me with flowers, coffee, and the Mama book by Jimmy Fallon.

{THREE} Water Table

We purchased a water table for Vienna this month and already used it so much. I heard that a water table was a great item and worth the hype, and several of my mom friends highly recommended it. I can confidently say that it’s worth it. Vienna already loves being outside as much as she can, so this will add to the hours of fun I know we’ll have outside this summer.

{FOUR} Summer Bucket List

In case you missed it, I shared my 2024 summer bucket list last week. We’ve already been able to check off a few things and I know it’ll be a fun resource to reference throughout the next few months.

{FIVE} Bloom Planners’ Vision Planner 2024-25

Have I talked about this already? Ignore me if I have, but I officially purchased my 2024-25 Vision Planner from Bloom Planners and I am in love! You know I love a good planner and Bloom Planners has been my go-to for at least 7 years now. I decided on the Garden Party design and have been penciling in all the important dates I know of so far. It feels good to be organized and have a fresh planner to jot things down in, even if the planner doesn’t technically start until July!

{SIX} Instant Pot Bruschetta Chicken Pasta

I’ve made this plenty of times, but it’s officially the season for Instant Pot bruschetta chicken pasta. This is a crowd favorite, easy to make, healthy-ish, great as leftovers, and ‘light’ enough to crave it all summer. To take a page from The Lazy Genius, it’s also my “decide once” to bring this anytime I sign up for a meal train (assuming there are no food allergies to consider).

{SEVEN} Vienna’s Boomin Bath Beats Playlist

During Vienna’s bathtime routine, we listen to music to set the vibe. We’ve been getting pretty tired of Disney hits (I know, don’t come for me) so Luke had the idea recently to go through the alphabet and choose an artist each night for that letter (e.g., “A” = Abba, “B” = Bob Marley). We recently finished this challenge (“X” was the hardest one, let me tell ya!) but loved the songs so much we created a ‘highlights’ playlist with two songs per artist: Vienna’s Boomin Bath Beats. Vienna loves dancing to these in the bath and as parents, we haven’t gotten sick of listening to it. It’s honestly such a fun playlist to jam to… enjoy!
