Hello, Hello. Is This Thing On?
Hello, my friends. It has been a while.
The last time I felt like writing was 18+ months ago.
The last time I published a blog post was one year ago this week. (You can read it here.)
My guess is that most (if not all) of you forgot this blog even existed. Honestly, so did I for a long time.
To save you from endless scrolling, since I could write a novel about this and that’s not what this platform is meant for, I’ll give you the TL;DR version.
I had a baby! Levi was born this past June, and he is truly an answer to many, many, many prayers.
Let’s get down to it: Infertility is no joke, y’all. It is a mental, physical, emotional, and sometimes even a spiritual battle. It is high highs hoping that each month will be the end of the waiting season, followed by lows as you realize that nope, it’s negative, another month of prayers answered with a “No.”
Levi’s testimony began years before he was born. Three years, surgeries, fertility treatments, medications, needles, prayers answered with “not yet,” and then finally - finally - answered with a “yes.”
A rollercoaster I don’t wish on anyone.
However, through it all, God remained faithful.
When Levi was born — after a very wild, intense, and quick labor — I stared at him in disbelief and pure joy. The child we prayed for, hoped for, and waited for with his very excited and proud big sister was finally - finally - in my arms.
A living, breathing, wiggly answer to prayer. A prayer that for many months, I thought would be indefinitely answered with a “No.”
Our son is a living witness of God’s faithfulness and His sovereign timing. One day, I will share all the small and amazing ways God reminded me of His faithfulness in and through his life. He never left me. My questions and sobs were never too much. But I digress. For now, and always, I turn to one of the greatest hymns and my personal anthem throughout this whole journey to sum up how I feel about it all …
“Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, it is well, it is well, with my soul.”
I don’t know how often I’ll continue to post here. I’m learning how to navigate two kids, working full-time, and keeping everything afloat and alive (with Luke, of course — thank GOODNESS for him!). I will say that I miss blogging. I don’t know if anyone will read this — or future posts — but I know that I miss writing for fun. I miss writing about life and books and motherhood and all the things God is teaching me in each season of life.
I hope to come back to this gradually, with coffee in hand, of course.
So come and stay awhile. Scroll through old posts and find something that catches your eye. You, my friend, are in good company, and I hope we can chat together soon about all the things.
It’s been a while. Life has been a lot lately, but there is also so much good.
No matter how you got here or how long you plan to stick around, I’m so glad you’re here.
