Books I Read in October

We are chugging along on the book wrap ups! Technically there are two more Book Recaps left of 2020; crazy, right?

I’m curious. Do you like the book roundups each month? I never know if people actually care about what I’m reading and what I think of them, or if it’s something you’d rather me omit from the blog schedule. Let me know what you think, because come 2021, there will definitely be some changes to the blog content and this could be one of them!

Anyways… October was a good book month even though I finished fewer books than I had originally planned. These were all amazing books, though, so I have no regrets.

The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s: An Oral History — Andy Greene (5/5 stars)

I really enjoyed listening to this book about the making of The Office. Luke and I re-watched the whole series (again) over quarantine and it really is one of those shows you can watch at anytime and still crack up laughing. Hearing the behind-the-scenes stories from the stars and creators themselves was really fun and entertaining.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine — Gail Honeyman (4.5/5 stars)

I ended up really liking this book, but I will admit, I didn’t think I could get through it at the beginning. I chugged along because people said they loved it and I’m glad I stuck with it. I grew to love the main character and didn’t predict the ending, which is always a fun surprise.

Anxious for Nothing — Max Lucado (4/5 stars)

This was an appropriate read for 2020 and going into election season. There are so many things to be anxious about and the title definitely caught my eye. I’ve read other books by Max Lucado and really enjoy his insights and perspective. The book focuses on one of my favorite Bible verses, too, which I loved.

Year of Yes — Shonda Rhimes (5/5 stars)

I couldn’t help but re-read this book. I’ve read it before years ago and remember it being amazing. It definitely lives up to the hype and is a great motivational and inspirational read. I always recommend this book when people ask for suggestions. If you’re curious for other recommendations, you may be interested in this post: 20 Books That Changed My Life.
