Monthly Roundup: September Favorites

What a month September has been! I have a love/hate relationship with September (mostly love, though), and this month proved to be one of my favorites of 2020 so far.

It was the perfect mix of work, play, productivity, and free time. Here are a few of my September favorites.

{ONE} Vacation

Surprise! Luke and I went on vacation to kickoff the month and I vowed to not talk about or share it until we were home. It was so nice enjoying a full week at the beach with gorgeous weather, good books, quality time with each other, and little to no social media. I wrote blog posts ahead of time so content wouldn’t stop and I bet you had no idea, huh? ;) One of my favorite parts of our trip was waking up early on the last day to see the sun rise over the ocean. Our hotel was beachfront so we didn’t even have to leave the room!

{TWO} Daily Crossword Puzzle app

I think I’m slowly becoming an old lady. I discovered a Daily Crossword Puzzle app through an ad and I immediately downloaded it. I love brain teasers and games that push me to think deeper and out of the box. I start my day by doing one or two of them and it’s the jolt I need to wake up my brain before working.

{THREE} The library

There is a library literally FIVE minutes from our house and I have yet to use it until this month. I know, right? What took me so long?! But I ordered my first books through the library and it truly is a game changer. I used to love the library when I was younger and even though COVID makes it so I can only do curbside pickup right now, it’s still a great perk! (Spoiler alert: You may see Daisy Jones & The Six mentioned in my September book roundup next week.)

{FOUR} We (Luke) Built a Pergola

2020 is the year of home projects in our house. This month Luke designed and built a pergola for our backyard! It’s been a project on his list for a few months now and on Saturday, he and some family members built it in one day. It looks incredible. I’m thinking of hanging some twinkly lights and we plan to stain it soon, as well.

{FIVE} Back to brunette

Right before quarantine in March, I got my hair balayaged to light brown and blonde. I absolutely love going lighter for spring and summer, and towards the end of summer, my hair was really blonde on the ends (see below!) This past weekend I was due for a haircut (it’s been since March!) so I decided to return to my roots…literally: dark brown with some lighter brown highlights throughout. Now it can officially be fall because the brunette is back!

{SIX} Movie night with Josh

My brother Josh and I had this tradition that every time there was a new Hunger Games movie in theaters, we’d go watch it together, just the two of us. It’s kind of our special thing. Since the new Hunger Games book came out this summer, we decided to rewatch the entire series. We started at the beginning of September and finished them this past weekend. It’s been fun rewatching them together, and I’m thankful for the special memories with the youngest bro.

{SEVEN} Fall is HERE

It’s officially fall and I’m pumped! This year I tried not to rush fall earlier than necessary because I loved this summer so much. This past week was officially the first day of fall, so now it’s time to drink all the pumpkin spice and salted caramel coffees, pull out the cardigans, and channel my basicness. Also, if you’re into Aldi, RUN, don’t walk, and get their Pumpkin Spice Latte Cold Brew Coffee. It’s incredible and tastes like pumpkin pie! I don’t care that it’s high 70s this week…it’s fall, y’all!
