Books I Read in September

YOU GUYS. I did it! In September, I officially hit 50 books in 2020. 🎉

I’m not going to lie, knowing that I have to write a recap of the books I read each month has definitely kept me motivated to read every day. It’s been such a good escape after staring at a screen for most of the day. Especially in 2020, getting lost in a story has been therapeutic and something I look forward to.

We’re officially in my favorite month of all time and believe me, all I want to do is write fall- and October-related content. But first, I need to share what I read in September. Because there are some books you have to read!

The majority of what I read in September were recommendations. Keep ‘em coming! Now that I know there’s a library 5 minutes from our house, my options are endless ;)

Here are the five books I read in September.

The Identicals — Elin Hilderbrand (4/5 stars)

We kicked off September on vacation and this was the perfect beach read. I’d never read anything by Elin Hilderbrand before but I heard good things through my bookstagram account. The Identicals is basically a twist on the movie The Parent Trap but with two adult twin sisters who live on Nantucket. It’s not a deep read by any means, but was perfect for light reading on the beach.

Decluttering at the Speed of Life Dana K. White (4/5 stars)

I’m always in the mood to declutter and organize so when I stumbled on this book, I knew I had to check it out. Instead of following drastic measures, the author’s view on decluttering is you do it little by little, every day, whenever you get the chance. If you have 10 minutes, declutter a drawer. Have an hour? Declutter a closet. I thought it was a realistic way of decluttering in every day life, unlike some other methods I’ve read about.

Daisy Jones & The Six — Taylor Jenkins Reid (5+/5 stars)

I had heard amazing things about this book that when it finally came in at the library, I stopped what I was reading at the time to start it. I LOVED this book. It’s written in such a unique format and follows the story of a rock band and how they came together and got famous. Disclaimer: There is some language and mentions of drugs and alcohol so it’s for a mature audience, but I really loved this book.

Find Your Path — Carrie Underwood (4/5 stars)

I try to listen to at least one audiobook a month because I personally love listening to them instead of podcasts when I’m doing chores around the house. This month I listened to Find Your Path and it was narrated by Carrie Underwood, which was awesome. She talked about her health journey and commitment to fitness every day. Not only did she discuss her journey but she also shared tips, workout ideas, recipes, etc. to help readers integrate more healthy choices and alternatives into their lives. If you do decide to read this, read a physical copy because sometimes it was hard to follow when she narrated recipes or instructions for a particular exercise.

Summer of ‘69 — Elin Hilderbrand (4/5 stars)

Book 50 of 2020! This was another great book by Elin Hilderbrand, although I enjoyed The Identicals more. It’s set in 1969 (obviously, by the title) and it’s loosely based on Elin’s own childhood. I thought it was a bit cheesy at times and I sometimes struggled with rooting for the main characters, but overall a solid read to mark my 2020 goal.

P.S. Don’t think just because I hit 50 books that I’ll stop sharing recaps of what I’m reading! I guess it’s time to create another goal for the rest of 2020. Stay tuned!
