20 Valentine's Day Ideas for You and Your Galentines

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.

Before you roll your eyes and exit out of this post, wait just a second. This is not going to be the typical Valentine’s Day post. We don’t do that stuff around here.

Valentine’s Day gets a lot of hype but I don’t think it should be a Hallmark holiday just for the taken ladies and gentlemen out there. A quick Google search will show you there are plenty of ideas on how to celebrate Valentine’s Day the cliche way. What those searches don’t show you, however, is there are lots of ways to celebrate by yourself or with your gal pals, too.

I spent many, many Valentine’s Days single as a Pringle. But before you feel sorry for me, don’t! There are ways to make the most of the “love holiday” and have fun doing it.

Below are some ways to love yo’self and some ways to celebrate the girlfriends in your life, too. Tomorrow, February 13, is Galentine’s Day, after all.

  1. Splurge on your favorite coffee

  2. Sleep in

  3. Read your favorite book or watch a comfort TV show

  4. Have a movie marathon

  5. Buy that purse/shirt/pair of shoes you’ve been eyeing

  6. Get takeout from your favorite restaurant

  7. Buy yourself chocolate and flowers, because why not?

  8. Wear something festive

  9. Stay off of social media

  10. Listen to your favorite playlist and dance around the house

10 Ways to Show Love to Your Galentines

  1. Surprise Venmo them so they can enjoy their favorite coffee for free

  2. Send an old-fashioned card in the mail

  3. Send a Galentine’s Day care package with all their favorite things

  4. FaceTime instead of text

  5. Host a virtual girls’ night

  6. If applicable, offer to babysit their kids so she can have a day to herself

  7. Go shopping and spend quality time together

  8. If she lives close to you, drop a small gift on her doorstep (freshly baked cookies, chocolates, or something similar)

  9. Give them a shoutout on social media

  10. Plan a night out for a few weeks from now so you have something else to look forward to!
