Monthly Roundup: March Favorites

How are we going into APRIL right now? I’m in awe.

March is one of my favorite months, which is interesting because people seem to hate on March. This March marked one year of quarantining/COVID and if I think too much about it, my brain gets a tiny bit overwhelmed that we’ve been dealing with all of this for over a year now.

Instead of dwelling on that, today I want to share some monthly highlights. Spring weather, sunshine, and longer days are good for the soul and it’s encouraging to see that winter is fading away more and more every day. We’re getting there!

{ONE} Grad school

I’ve mentioned this a few times already, but I started grad school in early March (yay!). It’s been great so far but a major adjustment to my schedule. I keep telling myself that if a mother of three can fit school into her busy life, so can I! I’m also being realistic about how much I can actually handle right now and don’t feel a need to rush the process. So far, so good!

{TWO} My planner

I feel like a broken record but my planner has been a lifesaver lately, especially this month! When I started grad school, I suddenly had a bunch of things to do, on top of everything else. I really can’t say enough good things about Bloom Daily Planners’ products, especially the Vision Planner. Check out my recent post, My Organization System, for details on how I stay organized!

{THREE} Old Navy

I rediscovered the amazingness that is Old Navy. I looked at my closet and realized I’ve been wearing, no exaggeration, the same outfits for years. It was about time I purchased a few additions and Old Navy has awesome basics that last awhile. I especially love their swing dresses and pixie pants. SO comfy and so versatile!

{FOUR} Jean Jackets

Jean jackets are back. When I gave mine away in the mid-2000s, I thought I’d never want them again. And yet, here we are — they’re back in style with a vengeance. I was on the hunt for a good jean jacket and found one at, you guessed it, Old Navy! I ordered the Oversized Boyfriend Jean Jacket in a Petite Small (my usual size at Old Navy). It’s definitely oversized so if you’re looking for a snug fit that shows your figure, this isn’t it. But, it’s a great staple to wear over a casual outfit that takes it from basic to on-trend!

{FIVE} Leopard Boots

Fun fact about me: I love leopard print. Seriously, take one look at my closet and you’ll immediately see a lot of leopard — scarves, ballet flats, a few shirts. When I found these leopard boots on sale at Target, I had to get them. They're less than $30, leopard print, and really comfortable. I wore them on Sunday when I was on worship team. I was standing/playing piano from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. (including band practice) and these didn’t hurt at all! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a little spice to your shoe collection.

{SIX} Spotify playlists

During the workday, if I’m not in meetings or working on focus-heavy tasks, I switch between audiobooks and music. I’ve recently been into several Spotify playlists that help me get into the productive mindset. My go-tos are productive am by Renee Amberg and Work From Home by Bloom Daily Planners. I also have playlists for working out, cleaning, and relaxing, so be sure to follow me on Spotify for more playlist recs!

{SEVEN} My birthday

I celebrated my birthday this month so I’d say it was definitely a highlight. It was a low-key birthday and that is completely okay. My actual birthday landed on a Thursday so I worked then went to band practice, where Luke and the band surprised me with cake and a mini celebration! My friend Cora has her own shop (@CocoSwtz) so she made the cake and it was beautiful and delicious. SO GOOD. That weekend, I went shopping with Mom and we had a family birthday dinner, too. I’m really thankful for the many blessings in my life. I shared more about that in last week’s post: Birthday Reflections and 28 Little Joys.
