Monthly Roundup: June Favorites

Ah, June. The official start of summer. Schools are out, the sun is shining, and there’s an easy, breezy, beautiful energy in the air.

Looking back on this month, I am really, really thankful. It was a fun month of seeing family, connecting with friends, discovering new music, and enjoying each day. I’m not trying to sugarcoat anything or be unnecessarily optimistic. I really just can’t think of any negative things that happened this month, and I’m really thankful for that.

Oh wait. No. There is one thing.

I had a cavity filled. I’ve only had one other cavity in my entire life and that was years ago, so the feeling of Novocain and not feeling my mouth was trippin’ me out. I did not like it. Not one bit.

Okay, but besides that? June was pretty good. Here are a few of my favorites!

{ONE} Florida trip

We kicked off the month by traveling to Florida to visit Luke’s family and see his sister, Mazz, graduate high school! It was the first time on a plane since 2019 and it felt good to reunite with family after so much time apart. They live near the beach so we went there, hung out, saw The Conjuring 3 in theatres, and cheered on Mazz as she walked across the stage to receive her diploma. So fun!

{TWO} Summer Bucket List and Playlist

I mentioned a few blog posts ago that I wanted to create a summer bucket list. Thanks to your contributions, I shared 30 summer bucket list ideas and have made it my unofficial goal to check off as many as I can this year. One of the bucket list items was to create a Summer 2021 Spotify playlist, which I did last week. And let me tell you, I can’t stop listening to it. I even ran to it this week and it made the miles fly by!

Check out the Spotify playlist here.

{THREE} Hershey Park

My family has gone to Hershey Park every summer for at least the past six years. We didn’t go last year (for obvious reasons) so we were excited to return this year. Usually it’s Mom, Zach, Josh, and I who go but this time Luke was able to take a day off of work and come, too! I realized it was our first time going to an amusement park together. Some of our favorite roller coasters were closed (boooo) but it was still a fun (VERY HOT) day.

{FOUR} Loki on Disney+

Loki on Disney+ came out this month and I am, once again, obsessed with Marvel shows. Wanda Vision still remains my favorite, but Disney is crushin’ it with these spinoff TV shows! It’s a fun way to end each week since a new episode comes out every Friday.

{FIVE} Target Sandals

I’ve been on the hunt for cute sandals that are not flip flops. At the end of last summer, I went through all my clothes and shoes and decided to donate a lot of items that no longer were my style. I didn’t realize it until the start of this summer, but I got rid of many pairs of sandals!

Enter: Target, which apparently is crushin’ it because I mentioned Target bathing suits in my last monthly favorites post.

I grabbed these black sandals before our trip to Florida and they are super comfortable and go with everything. Cannot go wrong with a classic black sandal.

When I went back to Target a week or so ago with my mom, I found these beauties and I could not walk away without them. I love a good pop of color and these do the trick! They are super comfortable, which is a must. I’ve been pairing them with an all black outfit so they really pop. When I went to find the link to them for this blog post, I realized they were a) on sale for $11 and b) were offered in a leopard version so yes. Yes, I did buy them in the leopard, too! #NoRegrets

{SIX} Barkbox

I am sure I’ve mentioned Barkbox before, but it is too good not to mention again. Barkbox is a monthly themed subscription box that is sent to Lucy. Yes, Lucy. My dog. It comes with a few toys and bags of dog treats. Let it be known that I did NOT purchase this subscription myself! Luke’s mom is the best and got it for Lucy for Christmas!

Each month is a different theme. Past themes include Spa Day, Barkfest in Bed, and Dogsgiving. June’s theme was “Squeakaway Camp” and the toys included a fake marshmallow on a stick, a popsicle, and a little sleeping bag. Lucy LOVES Barkbox, and her current favorite toy is the popsicle. She doesn’t go outside without it!
