My 5 Spring Weather Essentials
Today is my birthday! I’m officially entering the last year of my 20s and I’m not ready to process that yet.
So instead, today I’m sharing some things that perfectly epitomize spring for me. It is in the 70s today, after all (at least where I live) and spring officially begins on Sunday. AKA, we made it, guys! Spring is HERE. (I hope I didn’t just jinx us…)
What are some things that make you think of spring? Maybe it’s a specific song or your go-to dress and heels. Or maybe, it’s the first Rita’s water ice of the season. Whatever it is, I hope you’re able to enjoy it this weekend to celebrate the start of spring.
Here are five of my spring essentials:
{ONE} Switching to iced coffee
I love hot coffee, but when the weather starts to warm up, I prefer sipping on iced coffee, especially in the afternoons. I enjoy hot coffee all year round, but in the spring and summer, I tend to order an iced latte or cold brew.
My current at-home iced coffee: STOK black, unsweetened iced coffee with a hint of Coffeemate caramel creamer.
My current Starbucks order: Grande iced caramel macchiato with almond milk.
{TWO} Wearing and decorating with pastels
In the winter, I tend to wear a lot of dark colors — lots of black, grey, and navy. However, my wardrobe (and home decor) are definitely influenced by the weather. Soon, I’ll be packing up my dark sweaters for pastel pinks, blues, and greens, and swapping my boots for sandals and heels.
Spring is also the time of year I tend to swap my blankets, kitchen towels, and pillow covers for lighter and brighter patterns. An easy way to add some color to your home is to bring some fresh florals in from the grocery store or order/sew new pillow covers.
{THREE} Lighthearted books
I tend to gravitate towards lighter reads in the spring. I love relaxing on my front porch with a coffee and a good book. There’s something about sunshine and warmer weather that makes it the perfect setting to relax and read. A few easy reads I recommend for spring are:
People We Meet on Vacation — Emily Henry
Summer Island — Kristin Hannah
Year of Yes — Shonda Rhimes
Where the Crawdads Sing — Delia Owens
Daisy Jones & The Six — Taylor Jenkins Reid
{FOUR} A home reset
I’ve mentioned this before, and it is a bit obvious for spring, but I love a good home reset — decluttering, organizing, deep cleaning, etc. I usually will take a day or two to swap my clothes, declutter our closets, compile donation bags, and reset our home for the warm weather ahead. Here are a few of my past blog posts to check out for inspiration:
{FIVE} A good “driving with the windows down” Spotify playlist
You know that moment when you’re driving and it’s beautiful weather, you’re in a great mood, the windows are down, and you’re listening to a great song? I love those moments. So, I created a Spotify playlist of songs I typically listen to in those moments. These songs epitomize spring for me. I may be biased, but this is a great playlist for when you’re cleaning, driving, or want some background music as you relax around the house.
