A Spring Break Recap

Luke and I on Easter Sunday!

One of the perks of working in higher education is that faculty and staff get to enjoy a spring break week along with the students. AKA, one of the best weeks of the year. I’m very thankful for it.

I purposely try to include equal amounts of relaxing, productivity, and social time throughout the week so it’s a recharge week in every sense of the word. Here are a few highlights of what I’ve been up to this week.

{ONE} Checked out new coffee shops.

I checked out two new coffee shops this week: Coffee Co. in PA and Cafe 10:31 in DE. The Coffee Company has delicious options, including the peanut butter pie. Oh my goodness, it was heaven. Cafe 10:31 is a newer cafe in Middletown, Delaware. I had a lavender iced latte with almond milk and it was delicious! I highly recommend both places.

{TWO} Closet declutter and home organization.

I finally swapped my fall and winter wardrobe for my spring and summer clothes this week. I love using this opportunity to declutter, reorganize, and add to my donations pile. Doing this inspired me to declutter other parts of the house and it ended up taking the majority of the day, but the feeling of accomplishment afterward was definitely worth it.

{THREE} Quality time with friends and family.

Between Easter weekend, visiting my grandfather, and meeting friends for coffee, I’m so happy I got to see so many people this week! I always crave 1:1 social time, so I’m thankful that schedules aligned to be able to spend some time with loved ones.

{FOUR} A self-care day.

I scheduled a hair appointment right before Easter and treated myself to a pedicure, too, because why not? It has turned into a bit of a spring break tradition to kick the week off with a little self-care time and I’m not mad about it.

{FIVE} Lots of at-home time.

One of our cars has been in the shop so Luke and I have been sharing a car. On the days I didn’t have to go anywhere, I embraced the opportunity to stay home and relax. I made iced coffee at home, read books, played with Lucy, cleaned, organized, etc. As someone who has a tendency to schedule every minute of their day, I loved the “excuse” to stay home and just chill. It definitely helped recharge my “social battery” and I’m thankful for it!
