Monthly Roundup: October Favorites
As I write this, it is currently 76 degrees and I’m wearing shorts. The vibes are cozy, I had soup for dinner and a football game is on in the background, but the weather decided to give us a random summer-like day today, and I’m just a bit confused.
This juxtaposition sums up October, to be honest. Full of fun fall activities but with a dash of bizarre weather and a pinch of chaotic energy. Let’s get into some of the highlights:
{ONE} Porch decorating
We stocked up on pumpkins and mums the first weekend in October and it was lovely and the perfect kickoff to my favorite month. Produce Junction was the MVP this year and I will not be buying pumpkins and mums anywhere else from now on. They had an incredible selection at affordable prices. We packed the cart and our festive porch makes me happy every time I go outside.
{TWO} Terrain & pumpkins day
Mom, Vienna and I had a girls’ day to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. In true girls’ day fashion, we went to Terrain and looked at all the gorgeous over-priced decor and commented about how we could probably DIY the items if we really wanted to. I also took the opportunity to have a mini photoshoot with Vienna in the pumpkins and oh my goodness, it turned out SO cute with her little leopard shirt and jean jacket.
{THREE} Reading Harry Potter
My Instagram DMs blew up after I posted that I was reading Harry Potter for the first time ever this month. (Yes, you read that correctly.) I finished the first book (Sorcerer’s Stone) and started the second one last night (Chamber of Secrets).
{FOUR} Vienna’s helmet graduation
Vienna officially graduated from her helmet this month and we couldn’t be happier! I’m proud of her endurance and flexibility of wearing the helmet all day, every day for the past four months. It wasn’t easy, especially during those hot summer days, but she did it and now we’re done! Yay!
{FIVE} Vienna milestones
And suddenly, we reached double digits with Vienna. She turned 10 months this month and dare I say, time is speeding up and in slow motion all at once. It feels like I’m constantly trying to slow down and savor every moment while also blinking and the day is over and she’s in my arms as I rock her to sleep. Vienna loves eating solids, playing peek-a-boo, reading books and turning pages, being outside, talking all the time, belly laughing (Luke can make her laugh the loudest!), pulling to stand, and using me as her personal jungle gym. Her little personality cracks us up, her smile lights up a room, and her chatter is nonstop, especially during mealtime.
{SIX} Our 5th wedding anniversary
This blog post is going up on Luke’s and my FIFTH wedding anniversary — October 27. I cannot believe it’s been five years already. Let me just brag on Luke a little bit: He makes married life easy. He is patient, kind, hardworking, thoughtful, wise, and truly the better half of this relationship. He’s my best friend and the best daddy to Vienna. I’m so thankful I get to live this life with him by my side.
