Monthly Roundup: July Favorites

July was a month of doctor’s appointments, embracing slow moments, and soaking up the rays (when it wasn’t raining, of course). Here are a few of my favorites from July.

{ONE} Fourth of July

Sometimes this holiday is packed with events, and other times it was like this year: Slow, restful, and uneventful in a much-needed way. I purchased an adorable 4th of July/American Flag dress for Vienna that came with coordinating bloomers/shorts and a bow. It was precious and I took lots of pics. We live near a minor league baseball stadium that had a fireworks show that we could see from our house. It was lovely.

{TWO} Bookstore stop

I had the rare opportunity to go to a bookstore and coffee shop BY MYSELF this month and it was definitely a highlight of the month. I strolled the aisles of the bookstore (a local small business that I love to visit when I can) and then enjoyed my iced latte SITTING DOWN at a coffee shop. Amazing.

{THREE} Slow moments that brought me joy

A lot of slow, little moments happened this month that are worth mentioning. Here are a few:

  • Watering our flowers and plants in the evenings as I watch the sun set.

  • Reading on the back porch after Vienna is asleep.

  • Drinking iced coffee after doctor’s appointments.

  • Completing a complex puzzle with Luke over a weekend.

  • Doing the “closing shift” in the kitchen and prepping our space for the next day.

  • Pushing Vienna in her outdoor swing before it gets super hot outside.

{FOUR} We have a new niece!

Another girl was added to the cousin girl gang this month! She is precious and has a full head of hair. She and Vienna are seven months apart and will be in the same grade growing up. I can’t wait to see how their friendship unfolds over the years.

{FIVE} Scamanda podcast

GUYS. I discovered this podcast today and I am hooked. Scamanda details the true story of Amanda Riley, a woman who, starting in 2012, scammed people for years over the Internet and in her personal life by making them believe she was fighting cancer. She conned them of hundreds of thousands of dollars and went into great detail about her treatments so nobody questioned her story for a long time. She was finally caught and is now in jail (spoiler alert). The podcast is 8 episodes long and goes through the whole thing. It’s shocking, disturbing, intriguing, and such a well-produced podcast. Highly recommend if you like true crime/suspenseful podcasts.
