7 Random Things I've Purchased During Quarantine

I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker when it comes to online shopping.

Amazon is probably the best thing ever, and especially during this time of social distancing, I find myself going to Amazon just to browse since I can’t go shopping in real life! Probably a bit sad, but true.

Have you been buying random stuff during this time or is it just me? Here are 7 random things I’ve purchased during quarantine.

{ONE} A puppy

By now you probably have heard we got a puppy! The social distancing order for our state started March 16 so technically, the first purchase in quarantine was Lucy! Luke got her two days into quarantine as my birthday gift. She’s the best and has her own Instagram account. Gotta start that personal brand early, ya know? ;)

{TWO} 48-Pack of blank “Hello” note cards

Do I need 48 blank note cards? No. Were they cute and available via Amazon Prime? YES. I justified it because I’ve been writing more snail mail letters lately and realized my current stationery stash includes mostly “thank you” cards, which doesn’t fit if you’re writing just because. (Also, do I even need to explain why I love stationery so much? Probably not.)

{THREE} Books

Again, justifiable since I’ve read most of the books on my bookshelf already. Gotta work towards that 2020 goal, am I right? ;) A few books I’ve purchased include Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah, Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah, and Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Fun fact: You can buy used books on Amazon to support thrift stores and small bookstores! They’re wayyy cheaper that way and usually in great condition!

{FOUR} 4-pack of Dry Erase Markers, Ultra Fine Tip

We have a dry erase calendar on our refrigerator so we always know what’s going on. Especially when Luke’s work schedule got crazy, it was helpful to keep everything straight. Of course the calendar has been pretty much blank during this time but we’ve been wanting to order ultra fine tipped markers so it’s easier to write in the small boxes. Not exactly the most EXCITING purchase but it was practical and much needed.

{FIVE} A Beachbody On Demand subscription

Because the gyms are closed and running outside isn’t my fave. Beachbody is pretty amazing, I have to say! I’ve tried 21 Day Fix, Cize (my FAVORITE), and Insanity Max 30 (HARD but worth it). I like varying up my workouts each day so I don’t get bored and make excuses for not pushing myself. Many of the programs don’t require weights either, which is a bonus. When our gym opens back up, we’ll probably cancel the subscription but for now, it’s been a lifesaver!

{SIX} Hulahoop

The most random of purchases on this list, I think. In high school, I hula hooped every day and saw pretty great results. I haven’t owned a hula hoop since and the other day, I realized how much I miss it! The weighted versions are especially great for core workouts and I love hula hooping while watching TV or listening to a podcast.

{SEVEN} Our house!

Surprise! We bought our house. We’ve been renting to own it since we moved in. This week, we made it official and bought it. It feels good to officially be homeowners! I made Luke pose for a selfie with me on our porch holding up the deed to our house (the cover photo for this blog post!) He’s a good sport :)

P.S. I asked you on Instagram what you’ve been randomly buying during this time. Here are some of your answers!

  • “A pregnancy pillow (even though I’m not pregnant) because they’re fun to hug.” (Can’t argue with that!)

  • “A house!” (Congrats!!)

  • “An electric lint remover”

  • “Stamps on Amazon…to avoid going to the post office!”

  • “CUSTOM CHROME LEGO”

  • “Black Walnut liquid extract”
