10+ Things On My Mind This Week
I thought it’d be fun to do another rendition of 10+ Things On My Mind This Week. The last time I wrote one of these, it was early August, and a lot has happened since then! (You can read that blog post here.)
There are quite a few things I want to fill you in on, so I figured a 10+ Things post would be a great way to do that. Let’s dive in.
Team #NoSleep has officially begun. I am officially 36 weeks this week, which not only means we’re less than 30 days away from her due date (ah!!), but it also means that everything I do takes way more effort than before. I waddle, adjust, take deep breaths, and have reached the “this is uncomfortable” stage of pregnancy, which is fine and I know it’s part of the experience. Also, Team #NoSleep has begun. My body wakes up every two hours at night, almost down to the minute, whether I like it or not. I guess it’s my body’s way of helping me adjust to the new schedule that will begin within the next month or so.
Here are the Spotify playlists and podcasts that I’ve been loving lately. I’ve been trying to “romanticize” my mornings lately (a.k.a., appreciate the small moments) and part of doing that has been listening to a few specific Spotify playlists or podcasts while I prepare for the day ahead. Now that it’s sort of socially acceptable, I’ve been loving this Peaceful Christmas Instrumental playlist since it doesn’t have any words/lyrics and is good for just waking up. Calm Mornings is another go-to that I’m sure I’ve mentioned before. A few days a week, I also listen to podcasts including The Lazy Genius Podcast and Best Laid Plans, both of which have new episodes every Monday, and Gals on the Go, which has new episodes every Wednesday.
Decorating for Christmas is in full swing. We officially started decorating for Christmas this week, and I am in love with how warm and cozy our home feels during this time of year. We decorated our tree and put up a few decorations, but still have more to put up this weekend. We usually try to wait until closer to Thanksgiving to decorate, but we started a bit earlier this year since my energy is decreasing every day.
My motivation to do things is dwindling. Something that I’ve been having a really hard time accepting is that my stamina, motivation, and energy levels have dropped significantly in the third trimester. Walking up the stairs, folding laundry, and doing basic tasks and chores leave me out of breath and tired. By 10 a.m., I’m ready for a nap. It’s very odd, especially for someone who’s as Type A as I am, and I’m trying to listen to my body and not push myself whenever I can.
Christmas shopping. Christmas shopping is happening! Every year I tell myself I’ll start early, and this year I actually did. There’s still a bit left to get, but I’m excited that I’ve made a good dent in it already.
Hospital bag prep. It dawned on me this week that I should probably start thinking about packing my hospital bag, since technically, I could go into labor any time (although I think she’s going to come late, but that’s just me.) I asked you on Instagram Stories to share your hospital bag essentials/must-haves and you gave me such great ideas and tips! I’ll definitely be writing a full blog post on this in the future once I’ve made more progress with packing.
Nursery final touches. Now that the home office and guest room makeover is complete (check out the full reveal here), we’ve pivoted to getting the nursery in order. I love how it’s turning out and now we’re working on finishing the final touches, like hanging up curtains, artwork, and organizing a few random things. I’ll definitely share more when it’s complete!
All I want is soup. And orange juice. And raspberry La Croix. That’s it, that’s the thought. These are the three things I crave every day without fail. Pregnancy cravings are so weird!
Thursdays are my favorite because it’s ultrasound day. Now that we’re in the homestretch, I’ve been getting ultrasounds every Thursday to make sure Baby is passing her physical tests and staying healthy. I’ve come to love Thursdays for this reason, because I get to see her kick and move all around and see her chubby little face in 3D!
Shout out to these recent organization purchases. 100% worth it. I just had to shout out a few random organization purchases I’ve made lately that have been game changers. These under bed shoe storage boxes are perfect for storing lots of shoes and the compartments are adjustable to accommodate all types of shoes, from flats to boots. I purchased this hair bow organizer for the nursery and it came with lots of hooks so Baby can continue to use it as she gets older. Lastly, I purchased this hair dryer holder earlier this summer, and I love how it’s a simple way to store this bulky item under our bathroom sink!
